This advanced level course is designed for instructional coaches, teacher leaders, and school administrators who want to effectively lead teachers through the change process to place conceptual learning and transfer at the heart of curriculum and instruction.
Previous experience with conceptual learning is required before enrolling in this course -- such as completing one of our micro-courses, or leaders in our partner school program, or other advanced experience with conceptual learning. All assignments are designed to work seamlessly with your existing commitments as leaders because we know time is too precious a gift to waste!
The course contains 8 modules with short videos and short readings you can conduct on your own schedule, a community message board for questions and discussions, as well as optional live sessions to ask questions and receive feedback. Each participant will coach one or two teachers and design action plans for effectively leading toward conceptual learning that transfers.
Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate noting 10 hours and 1 continuing education credit (CEU), plus a badge to use in emails, resume, etc. We hope you'll join us!

Investigate and audit current curricular and leadership practices.
Promote organization of learning around transferable concepts that facilitate retention and transfer of knowledge.
Coach teachers on planning for conceptual learning that transfers and reflect upon the results.
Select and implement one leadership strategy that nourishes collective efficacy and reflect upon the results.
Create and implement a long-term action plan to increase conceptual learning and collective efficacy; provide peer feedback on plans.
Evaluate progress and adjust based on implementation refleciton.
Ensure everyone is enjoying the journey and caring for themselves and each other.
